Why are we developing a Greater Darwin brand?
City of Darwin is working with stakeholders and the community to develop a brand for the Greater Darwin region that captures the unique character of our people, cultures, lifestyle and places.
When finalised, the new Greater Darwin region brand will aim to support the tourist economy year-round; drive population growth; and encourage investment, entrepreneurship and business partnerships in the Greater Darwin region.
Once developed, the brand may be used by partners, local businesses and City of Darwin to promote the Greater Darwin region to tourists, investors, industry, future residents and prospective customers.
What do we mean by "the Greater Darwin region"?
For the purposes of this work, Greater Darwin includes the Darwin, Palmerston, Litchfield and Coomalie Local Government areas.
The Greater Darwin region is a place where histories, cultures and lifestyles converge, and we want to hear from people of all walks of life so we can create a meaningful brand that can be shared locally, interstate and overseas.
Who is developing the brand?
City of Darwin is leading the development of a new brand for the Greater Darwin region, which includes the Darwin, Palmerston, Litchfield and Coomalie Local Government areas.
We are working with Nous Group to conduct stakeholder and community engagement.
How can I provide my input?
Stage 1 - Express your interest in participating in a 30 to 45 minute phone call, video call or in-person interview at Nous Group Darwin office using the link. Interviews will be held during September 2024 and will be an opportunity for you to tell your story about what living in the Greater Darwin region means to you.
Stage 2 - We invite you to vote for the brand concept that resonates most with you here. Voting Opens 14 October 2024 and closes Monday 4 November.

How will my feedback be used?
Your feedback will shape the Greater Darwin brand and story.
All information and data you provide will be securely handled in line with Nous’ privacy and security policies.
If you participate in interview, we will take notes, and your ideas will contribute to creating the brand story of Greater Darwin. We will not use any personally identifiable information about you.
If we want to feature you or your story in any of the work later, we will contact you separately and get your permission before doing so.
When will the brand be ready?
Engagement for this project will run through until November 2024. At the end of the project Nous will deliver a brand strategy to City of Darwin.
City of Darwin will then work with key stakeholders to develop a brand toolkit that businesses and individuals can use to share locally, interstate and overseas.
Why should I participate?
By sharing your experiences and ideas you will be helping to shape the way that the City of Darwin, and other organisations in the Greater Darwin region, communicate about the region with people that might want to visit or move here. We want the new brand to tell a story that everyone from the Greater Darwin region can be proud of, that delivers a message about who we are and what we stand for.
