What is the Bundilla Beach masterplan about?

We’re seeking input from stakeholders and the community as we design a staged and prioritised masterplan that revitalises and transforms the Bundilla Beach area across the short, medium and longer term.

How will the masterplan be delivered?

Following the engagement process, the detailed design for Stage One, as well as the concept for Stages Two and Three of the masterplan, will be developed and shared publicly in early 2024.

Construction of the first stage of the masterplan is scheduled for delivery in 2024, and we’re seeking your feedback on what works we should deliver next year to enhance Bundilla’s natural beauty while delivering more recreation opportunities and a higher level of amenity.

Stages Two and Three of the masterplan will reflect the medium and long-term uses of the Bundilla Beach area, which is why we want to hear about your needs, aspirations and priorities for the space for the years to come.

How is the project funded? What is the budget of the Bundilla Beach Revitalisation?

The Northern Territory Government has committed $3 million and City of Darwin has contributed $0.5 million for a total of $3.5 million to deliver the following:

    • Stage One masterplan detailed design
    • Construction of Stage One deliverables
    • Concept design of Stages Two and Three.

What will be delivered in Stage One?

Stage One includes the following proposed short-term deliverables:

    • additional public lighting
    • 3 x 3 basketball court
    • greenspace irrigation
    • additional BBQ tables and shelters
    • street food enabling infrastructure
    • additional toilets
    • improvements to pathways
    • improvements to parking
    • a dog park
    • an RV dump point.

We are keen to hear from stakeholders and the community on whether these proposed deliverables meet your needs.

What can I provide feedback on?

Most of the proposed deliverables under Stage One developments have arisen from previous consultations with stakeholders and the community about the Bundilla Beach area. While stakeholders and the community have shown support for these proposed deliverables previously, you can provide your feedback on the Stage One deliverables through this engagement process.

This engagement process also seeks to understand people’s aspirations, priorities and needs for the Bundilla Beach area for the medium (2-3 years) and long-term (4-6 years).

How will my input impact the masterplan?

Your feedback, concerns and aspirations about the future of the Bundilla Beach area will be considered by the design team and Council as the detailed design for Stage One, and the concept design for Stages Two and Three of the masterplan are developed.

As a resident I am concerned about the impact of the Bundilla Beach Masterplan on our neighbourhood.

Preserving Bundilla Beach’s environmental, cultural and social value is a critical goal for this masterplan. Stage One works are likely to be concentrated around the beachfront end of the park, and as such construction will have minimal to no impact on the adjacent properties. In addition, Stage One works will be small-scale improvements that focus on improving amenity, safety and recreation opportunities.

There will be more opportunities to provide feedback on Stages Two and Three of the masterplan in early 2024.

How can I share my feedback about this masterplan?
