City of Darwin is committed to making Darwin a community that is inclusive and accessible for everyone who lives, works, studies and visit the municipality.

We are preparing an Access Strategy 2025-2030 that will outline the goals we want to achieve and actions we will take.

This strategy will help us work together with the community, businesses and individuals to make sure our city is safe, liveable and healthy for everyone.

Accessibility is about making sure that everyone can fully participate in life in our city.

Accessibility is everyone’s concern. It’s especially important for:

  • People with disability
  • Family, helpers and supporters of people with disability
  • People with temporary disability (like an injury)
  • People who are aging
  • Families with small children
  • Visitors to City of Darwin
  • Business owners
  • Employers
  • Government

Improving accessibility is about making changes to:

  • How our buildings, public spaces and recreation facilities are designed
  • How you get around from place to place
  • How our events and activities are designed
  • How you get information
  • How we communicate with you
  • Services and programs we provide
  • Our employment and staff training

We invite you to contribute!

We’d love to hear from people with disability and people with lived experience of disability so that our strategy really focuses on what is most important.

Many people across the community will also hold views from their experience about what is important for accessibility in City of Darwin.
