KNOW SOMEONE who is passionate about the Darwin community? This is the time to recognise those special people who put their heart and soul into supporting and improving our community.
The Australia Day Citizen Awards celebrate and recognise individuals and groups that;
have made a noteworthy contribution during the current year,
and/or have provided an outstanding service over a number of years, to a local community to improve the lives of others,
who are role models, quiet achievers or leaders in our community.
The outstanding contribution could be in areas such as education, health, fundraising, charitable and voluntary services, business, sport, the arts, the environment and any other area that contributes to the well-being of a community.
The awards are City of Darwin's highest recognition of contribution to our city. The categories are;

2023 Community Activity Winner
Nepal Festival
NT
Attracting more than 10,000 visitors over the duration of the event, the winner of the 2023 Community Activity was the cultural immersive experience – Nepal Festival NT.
Themed “One Country, Many Stories”, the festival promoted Nepal’s unique heritage through a celebration of the Himalayan nation’s diverse ethnicity, art, culture, food, folklore and folktales.
Highlighting the Northern Territories rich cultural diversity, this event is just one of many community experiences showcasing the best of the territory.

2023 Citizen of the year winner
Kaye Talbot
An advocate within the disability space, the 2023 winner of the Citizen of the year award winner was Kaye Talbot.
Kaye has dedicated the last 15 years volunteering her time to enhance the lives of those with a disability through her weekly coaching and establishing the local disability league. An environment created to make all feel welcome and a part of the tenpin bowling community.
Kaye’s enthusiasm for creating a safe and enjoyable environment for the disabled community and their families really embodied the essence of the Citizen of the year award making her a worthy winner.
