Consultation has concluded

Nightcliff Sports Club presented a proposal to Council to install 200lux lighting at Nightcliff Oval.

Consultation

We asked the community what they thought of the proposal and if there were any potential issues or opportunities identified. The proposal received overwhelming support, with a very small number of people opposed. The key issues identified were regarding managing anti-social behaviour and parking issues in surrounding streets.

The sports clubs have codes of conduct in place to manage anti-social behaviour to ensure the safety and comfort of patrons and participants. They have committed to monitoring anti-social behaviour around the oval, including reporting any issues to appropriate authorities. The hours of use for Nightcliff Oval will be no later than 9pm Sunday to Thursday and 9.30pm Friday and Saturday.

In response to parking issues in surrounding streets, yellow no parking lines have been installed next to driveways to stop the access issues that were occurring. Council and the sports clubs will continue to monitor the parking and traffic management once the lighting is installed.
