What sporting clubs are based at Nightcliff Oval?
Nightcliff Football Club and Nightcliff Cricket Club. However, other local community groups occasionally hire the facility.
Why is the upgrade necessary?
The existing changerooms are not sufficient to accommodate users of the facility.
Does this project include additional carparks?
This project does not include the construction of additional carparks.
Will this project impact lighting of the oval?
No. In March 2023 Council endorsed standardised operating hours for sports lighting at City of Darwin ovals and recreation venues. Nightcliff oval lighting hours remain 4 - 9 pm Sunday – Thursday and 4 – 10 pm Friday and Saturday.
Will this project increase use of the facility?
The objective of the proposal is to service the current needs of the sporting clubs.
Who is paying for the upgrades?
Construction of the changerooms is estimated to cost $1.81 million. AFL has pledged $250,000 towards the project and AFL NT is currently seeking government funding and private donations to fund the remainder of the project.
