The first Municipal Plan and Budget of the new Council paves the way for a strong, sustainable and smart future for our City.

The Plan focuses on delivering key city projects, managing our assets and positions the Council to respond to our challenging economic environment.

The Budget shows Council’s commitment to meet the community’s expectations for services, for maintaining our assets and investing in infrastructure for the City’s future.


Highlights and points to note:

  • General rate increase of 3% which is an average increase of $64 a year or $1.23 per week
  • The rate increase is in line with Council's Long Term Financial Plan to remain financially stable
  • $32.5M Capital Works Program
  • $10M Switching on Darwin project to deliver innovative smart technology
  • $5M Street Lighting Project to upgrade street lights to smarter, greener LED lighting
  • $3.5M Sports Oval Lighting
  • $4.3M to resurface Lakeside Drive
  • $3.9M to run four public libraries
  • $940K to install shade at playgrounds
  • $679K for coastal erosion works
